Outlot 8
We had a lot of feedback and suggestions around what to do with outlot 8, the common themes have been summarized as follows:
Green space preservation: Many prefer maintaining the area as natural, low-maintenance green space, emphasizing native wildflowers, pollinator gardens, and additional trees to foster wildlife habitat while minimizing major structures.
Functional enhancements: Suggestions for active use include installing walking paths, benches, playgrounds, picnic areas, or a pavilion, with specific requests to connect existing neighborhood sidewalks and trails.
Maintenance expectations: A consistent desire exists for regular mowing and general site upkeep to address concerns regarding overgrowth, weeds, and overall presentation, though some suggest leaving parts of the area wilder.
Alternative proposals: Less frequent suggestions include converting the space for specific community amenities like a dog park, community garden, basketball court, frisbee golf course, while a few advocate for restricting development entirely to maintain privacy for adjacent homes.
Outlot 5
Much like Outlot 8 – we had a variety of suggestions on what to do here and have provided a summary below.
Enhancement of Gathering Spaces: Respondents frequently suggested transforming the area into a functional community space by adding picnic tables, shade structures, pavilions, benches, or a playground to support social activities and outdoor recreation.
Natural Preservation and Landscaping: Many favor maintaining the lot as open green space, specifically advocating for the planting of native wildflowers, pollinator gardens, trees, or the creation of nature trails to promote local biodiversity.
Maintenance and Utility: A segment of residents emphasizes the necessity of basic, consistent upkeep such as regular mowing, while others proposed functional additions like hydration stations or solar installations.
Development and Informational Needs: Some individuals expressed a desire for more information regarding the lot’s intended use or suggested exploring residential development to generate funds, while others advised prioritizing existing issues before committing to new projects.
Thank you to Everyone who participated and made your voice heard – the board will take the results of the survey under advisement for future work and report back to the community later this year.
